Latest news from the team received 11/12/2011:
Dear Chiswick Transitioners,
I know that some of you were unable to make it, but our first meeting in the new venue, _St Joseph’s Church Hall, 1 Bolton Road, Grove Park, W4 3TE_ saw the return of many familiar faces and welcome new ones.
To give those of you who were not able to come (as well as reminder to those who did!) an idea of what we covered, the minutes and the summary of our post-it note enterprise can be found here –
_Our next meeting will to be on Monday 19th Dec at 7.30-9pm – same place. _
This will be the last meeting of 2011 and it would be great to end the year with lots of thoughts/ideas and projects that we can really start to get up and running in the new year.
Some thoughts on what we might do:
A bit of a brainstorming session on how to raise awareness of ‘us’.
Group session leading on from the post-it exercise, 3 topics perhaps.
Look at aims/vision for Chiswick Transition.
If anyone has any other ideas about what we should include, please just reply to firstname.lastname@example.org
Any ideas on networking in general would be welcome too.
Don’t forget to check out the Chiswick Transition website and suggest some content. We’d particularly like to hear if you’ve had a visit from the re: new project giving advice on saving energy at home, or if you went along to the edible playground planting day at Dukes Meadows.
Looking forward to seeing you on Monday 19th
Anna, Jon, Diane

Chiswick Transition is being re-launched (28th November – details below) with one of its first activities being to support:
Planting an edible playground at Dukes Meadows, Saturday 3rd December 2011, 11am-4pm
Abundance needs lots of help please to plant up the playground at Dukes Meadows with edible stuff. The area behind the big slide and along the back of the playground, currently a rather sad strip of moribund boring vegetation will be transformed – if you come and help us – into a delicious area heaving with redcurrants, whitecurrants and blackcurrants, underplanted with alpine strawberries. We will also be including spring bulbs, to brighten up the February days while we wait for the lovely berries to come into season later in the year.
We need you to come along between 11am to 4pm (or any part thereof) to help us get this sorted. Bring gloves, solid shoes, warm clothing, and if you have a favourite bulb planting trowel or shovel, bring it along. Maybe also a hot drink and a sandwich to keep your energy up! There will be shovels, wheelbarrows and gloves provided by Dukes Meadows. The main thing we need is your goodwill and digging muscle please.
Children absolutely welcome, but you are responsible for their behaviour and safety.
Funding provided by Heathrow Small Awards, co-ordination and enthusiasm from Abundance, playground – and orchard, farmers market, etc etc – managed by the wonderful Dukes Meadows Trust.
It would be great to have a vague idea of how many are coming – or if we are going to be all lonely up there on our own, planting away as darkness falls – so please let us know if you think you might be able to help. (And if any local restaurants want to bring us a cup of hot soup… ). For details please contact Diane Scott: diane.scott84 at yahoo.co.uk (replace ‘at’ with @).
